Thanksgiving

I'm thankful that we had Thanksgiving this week.  It was nice to spend time with both families this week.  . We got to stay with the Joneses and had Thanksgiving dinner with the Cannons and Hoemanns. Lucy enjoyed her first thanksgiving and even got to enjoy quite a bit of mashed potatoes.  They made her burp a lot, but hey, it's Thanksgiving. That's what we do - eat and burp

Aunt Mel and the kids made cute name place cards for everyone. The three babies all got to share the high chair seat. Lauren is such a cutie.

Kids table (I remember hating the kids table when I was a kid).

Adult table.  Mel and Katie made it so nice.

He's either happy because of the pie or because he just teased somebody. Take your pick.

Lucy in motion.  She bounces a lot.

Mashed potatoes are yummy

I love Melly

The boys playing xbox.  Somehow Lucy got in the mix and she looks like she likes it too much.

Cora and Lauren playing Apples to Apples

Lucy and cousin Quincy playing the piano.  Based on their playing styles, Lucy is the wild child and Quincy is the gentle soul.

This was the drive home yesterday from Stafford.  Thankfully she fell asleep within minutes of pulling out and only woke up when we stopped to look at Christmas trees.  We weren't so lucky on the drive up.

We got a Christmas tree yesterday.  It looks more like a Charlie Brown tree in this picture than it does in real life.  I think it's perfect.

 Lucy! Hands off!

Caught red handed and on camera.  Busted baby!

It kind of looks like she's a present under the tree.  Best present ever.

Keep it Up

It's fun being a mom.  Lucy is my buddy and I love hanging out with her all day.

We went to the fabric store to get fabric so I can make Lucy's Christmas stocking.  Sometimes trying on little hats is too tempting for me to say no.

Lucy changes so quickly.  She learned how to smack her lips the other day, so we got to listen to that all day long.  And yesterday she started to feel her teeth with her tongue. The tongue was out for the better part of the day.

Showing off her Christmas bow.  And again with the tongue.  (Yes, she looks like baby gaga, but the ladies at the craft show bewitched me with their ooohing and awwwing of how cute she was with an enormous bow on her head).

 The tongue in action.

This is as far as we've gotten with crawling.

One

There really is only one cutest baby in the world. And every mother has it.

Here's mine.

Pretty Hand Wave

What a great week.  Absolutely nothing crazy happened. My cough has subsided a lot and I got back into the swing of taking care of my stay at home baby.  I've been so grateful to be feeling better. Bryan and I got to go on a date to the movies.  We thought we were going with a group of friends, so it was only a little awkward when it turned out to be us and one sister from the ward. Lucy and I walked to meet Bryan at school Friday night to go to an awards meeting for a competition he is doing this year.  (I had no idea the hill to the law school was so steep.) Too bad we missed the meeting (they changed the room last minute and we didn't know where everybody went) because Bryan won for submitting one of the best briefs.  It came with a $50 prize. Cha ching.

Lucy is on a schedule.  It's not the one I would have asked for, but she's happy with it (and isn't budging on her wake up time - no matter when she goes to bed).  She goes to bed between 7:30-8:00 and wakes up for the day between 6-6:30.  She's so happy to see us when she wakes up.

Showing off her new hat and mittens.

I was reading that babies her age should be learning how to drink out of sippy cups. So I bought her one and she has no idea what to do with it (don't let this picture fool you).  I was worried about her development, but Bryan reminded me that Adam and Eve never had sippy cups and things turned out just fine.

She helped me clean out my closet yesterday.  She's wearing my hat and I think she looks like Bob Marley.

She thinks she's pretty cool stuff driving a car.

This picture is a set up. Bryan took her down the slide which meant nothing to her.  So we just put her at the end of the slide and made her smile for a picture.

We went on a walk today to the old football stadium.

Finally enjoying the swing. 10th time's the charm.

I was trying to get Lucy to wave.  She didn't quite cooperate (she only does her "pretty hand thing" a little), but she did tilt her head to the side which she has been doing a lot lately too.

The End

Where to begin?  If ever there's a question on who needs humbling in our family, the easy answer to that would be me. I think this week would best be explained in calendar format starting on Monday 10/29/12:

Monday: After being up half the night coughing, I went to the doctor again.  The doctor diagnosed my symptoms as "classic pertussis", aka whooping cough.  A copay later and I'm told there's nothing they can do.  It can last 2-12 weeks (average of 7).

Tuesday: Can't find my set of keys anywhere, which also has the only set of car keys on it. After looking for hours we were going to be late for our trunk or treat.  Not to worry, we put Bryan in the trunk of our friend's car so we could all go.  Thankfully it was a hatchback. (The irony that I was the one to lose the keys isn't lost on me. I'm telling you, I apparently needed some humbling).

She resisted on the eyeliner whiskers.  It was the best I could do.

Wednesday: Hosted our "dinner group" for dinner.  Made two meals actually.  Let's just say, the day didn't go as planned and I don't handle those situations as well as I should.

Thursday: Lucy starts to get sick.  We still haven't found our keys, so we finally call a lock smith to make us new car keys. $175 later and we're back in business. Well...kind of, because we only have one house key.

Friday: Lucy was up coughing and throwing up in the night, so I take her to the doctor first thing in the morning.  She decides that she doesn't need to be sick for the doctor at all.  She was playing and having fun and only let out a cough when we were alone in the room. Wackle munch.

Saturday:  Here's where things really get good. Bryan was helping a friend from church move something in the morning.  What he didn't know was that they didn't have permission to be where they were, taking what they were taking.  They learned that fact when the police showed up.  All the owner had to do was say the word and all the guys could be arrested for Grand Larceny. That's right, a felony.  Thankfully after a 45 minute discussion between the property owner and Bryan's ring leader, the owner decided not to press charges.  For now.  He has until November 3, 2013 to press charges.  So basically at any given time a police officer could show up and arrest Bryan. Bryan tells me it's not that bad because he could post bail  and get out and he thinks the prosecutor would most likely drop the charges.  Great.  I'll admit, I was saying my prayers last night and I started laughing because I was thanking Heavenly Father that my husband didn't get arrested.  It's not every day I can say that.

Thankfully that's the end of the week.  Today was a great Sunday and I'm ready to start a new week.  We went to a friend's today and Lucy got to play with her friend Evangeline who's only 3 days older than her.

She's a little sad here for some reason.

Trying on all kinds of bling.  Her face shows a myriad of emotions in the following pictures.

Lucy is resisting learning how to use her index finger and thumb.

Rally Around

We had a good, normal, not too exciting week.  I'm okay with that.  Lucy has been good and she is so much fun for me.  I'm so glad she's a stay at home baby.  She keeps me busy and is my buddy.

Lucy trying on a fuzzy bear hat in Wal Mart.  She thought she was pretty cool stuff.

We went to a Paul Ryan rally on Thursday.  Every now and then Lucy takes a bad picture...

That's more like it.

Lucy crushed all my hopes and dreams.  We got to sit on the risers behind where the speakers are (you know, the ones that are visible on tv!). But the second that the music started blaring and people started cheering, Lucy lost it.  That's okay Lucy, I forgive you.

P - Dawg

Lucy and Lillian swinging. They're both in the fall spirit holding their leaves.

Here's another not so good picture.  Let's try that again Lucy.

That's better.  She slept on her hair funny the night before and her hair was sticking up all day.

Lucy playing with her pumpkin.

I was babysitting for a neighbor's baby (who is also named Lucy).  I didn't know quite what to do in this situation, so I froze and just took some video.

Moving On

This has been quite the week.  To be honest, I'm glad it's over.  I have been really sick with bronchitis all week.  The moment to highlight what this week was like was when I went to get Lucy after she woke up from a long nap.  I was so thankful because she slept for over two hours, but the joy was short lived when I noticed that she was wet.  Then I noticed the putrid smell. Then I noticed the chunks all in her hair.  Then I realized that she had thrown up all over everything. Between messy diapers and throw up, she had four changes of clothes and two baths that day.  All while I was running a fever of 101.  And when Bryan came home he could still smell the throw up on her. I blame camping.

The good thing is she's a crack up and makes me smile no matter how bad I feel.

She went to the doctor with me and she did great the whole time.  The nurse referred to her as "him" a dozen times while we were there.  Is there anything about her outfit that looks boy?

I got Lucy an "Indestructible Book".  Basically it's paper that babies can chew.  She loves it.

Bedhead after her nap. I know exactly how you feel Lucy.

We also had some pictures taken.  A neighbor was offering free pictures just so she could practice.  They all turned out really nice. Here's just a few.

If you're interested in downloading and printing all of them for your walls at home, here's the link:
