Star

We went to Roanoke for a few days this week.  Bryan got a paid trip to attend a conference so Lucy and I tagged along.  The hotel was pretty nice and the weather was great which means it was a recipe for a great trip.  And a great trip it was. For Lucy.  She loved it.  She loved the hotel.  I don't think I've ever seen her happier.  She loved to go all over the room and look out the window and look in the big mirror. She had a great time.  Bryan noticed however that Lucy was the only one on vacation.  Taking care of Lucy in a one room hotel isn't as easy for us as it should be. She didn't sleep very well, which made it hard for us to feel good about anything.  All in all though, it was a nice break (and made us even more grateful for two bedrooms).

This was at the top of the mountain where they have the largest man made star in the world. Who knew?  I couldn't stop taking pictures of Lucy and her daddy.  She was so happy.  She loves her dad so much.

Here's Lucy enjoying the hotel room.

This happened the other day. That's bakers chocolate all over.

And another food mess. She loves spaghetti.

Ball Game

Thankfully, this week was pretty uneventful. Well, unless I go into the bug bite saga, but I don't really want to.  We had a fun family night a UVa baseball game. We left in the 6th inning with the Cavalier's down 7-2.  We found out later that they ended up winning.  Probably would have been fun to stay.  Oh well.

At the ball game.  Lucy did great the whole time.

Here's a series of pictures I took of Lucy and Lillian fighting over Lucy's blanket.  There aren't many things in life that Lucy takes seriously, but her blanket is one of them.  She wasn't going down without a fight.

 Victory!

I've been having a hard time getting anything done with Lucy around.  While I'm cleaning up one mess she's off making another.  I was trying to fold laundry and she was pulling my piles off the bed or pulling all the books off the shelves.  I finally put her outside the room with the gate and she was devastated.  Poor baby.

Test Subject

I know, I know.  I missed a week. We went to Grandma and Grandpa Jones's last Sunday and it just didn't happen.  The week I missed wasn't that exciting anyway.  As a matter of fact, it was pretty difficult.  Lucy got sick from her Measles vaccination.  You know, the one I signed her up to be a test subject for.  She had a really high fever for a few days and she was miserable.  The good news is that I took her to see the doctor and we get an extra $50 for our trouble. Thanks Lucy.

Also, I forgot to to give Lucy's weight and height from her 1 year appointment  On 3/26/12 she weighed 21 lbs 7oz (75th percentile) and was 30 inches tall (80th percentile).

Sick Lucy.  She was really sad.

The Joneses and Reads came down for Saturday's general conference.  They came because Heather had her senior pictures taken by the lady who took Lucy's pictures.  I think Heather's pictures turned out great and I'm glad they came down for the day.

Aunt Heather (and Rachel) comforting Lucy after something bad happened (who knows what).

It was good weather and it was nice to spend so much time outside.

Lucy and Quincy.  Pierce and Autumn were moving targets, so I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of them.

Cute babies.  Lucy looks like she's squishing poor Quincy.

 Cousin bath time

Busted.  Aunt Heather was caught giving both babies cookies. They all look pretty happy about it.

Why not?

Asleep in the swing.  She was probably tired because she woke up at 5 am.

All in all it was a good week.  Lucy had a hard time being away from home, so we were both happy to come home. Penny and Wendy and Elsie finished out their visit to Northern Virginia by coming back to Charlottesville.  Regrettably I don't have pictures of their visit either.

Officially 1

Crazy week!  I'm too lazy to break this down into shorter posts, so I don't blame you if you don't make it through this whole post.

Lucy isn't a baby anymore! We had a birthday party with all her little friends and we had fun with cake and presents with dad.  Here's the cake I made for her.  It's not award winning, but I'm certainly capable of doing worse.

 Lucy and her friend Evangeline

Lucy had kopoma for her birthday dinner.  Yum.

She didn't know what was going on, but she loved it nonetheless.

Happy Birthday!

The older she gets, the more she's capable of getting into.  I was taking a shower and was happy she wasn't sticking her head in the shower.  I found out after I got out that she was into my make up.

And that's a cupcake I threw in the trash because she barfed all over and I thought it got on the cupcake. She doesn't care.

Poor Lucy got her first major owie.  We made it a few days past age 1.  The long and the short of it is that on my watch she took a face plant on the concrete.  It was so sad.  Thank goodness it doesn't look nearly as bad in the picture as it looked in real life.

A brother from our ward works at the local news station and he took some families in the ward on a tour of the station.  We got to hang out at the news desk and even stay in the room for the 7 o'clock news.  They were going to let us keep Lucy in there but we couldn't handle the pressure of keeping her quiet/happy.  So we took turns staying out with her on commercial breaks.

The man on the left is the one that works there and this is our Bishop's family on the right.

Getting ready to do the weather

Lucy went on an Easter Egg hunt.  Not much hunting going on for her. She picked up her one egg and was happy to hold it.

Grandpa and Grandma Jones and Aunt Heather came down yesterday and spent Easter with us.  It was such a nice Sunday.

 Oh Lucy.

We had 1 year pictures taken of Lucy.  There's a bunch, so here's the link to see them all:
