We ♥ Lucy

Do you see something on Lucy's leg?  It's really hard to make out, but it says, " I ♥ Dad".  That's what happens when dad and Lucy are unsupervised.

Lucy loves holding onto this ball.  It's easy for her to grab.  She's still not really reaching for things, but if she gets a grip on something she loves to bring it to her mouth.

Listen up.  She's about to impart some profound wisdom.

Seriously, she said listen up.

I know you can't see her face, but I love her cute chubby baby leg .

Drive In

Yesterday was an eventful day. We went swimming in the luxurious Eagle's Landing Pool. Lucy seemed to enjoy it.  She didn't cry at all.

The we went to the drive in theater in Goochland. Yes, Goochland. We thought we were well prepared to keep Lucy on her schedule.  You'll notice we even changed her into her pj's.  She was asleep at her normal time (around 8:30) and doing pretty well until they wished happy birthday to some kids and told everybody to honk their horns.  500 horns honking all at once....Oh my.

Lucy chillin' with the other bugs on the windshield.

I tried to take her picture in church again.  We get there about a 1/2 hour early so that Bryan can warm up on the organ, so Lucy and I try to fill the time.

Family Fun

We went on a walk on Saturday along the Monticello trail.  It's a really nice shaded walk up the hill to Monticello.

Don't be alarmed, that's not a bear in the background.  I thought it was at first too.

What's that?

Oh, it's me trying to get a picture of Lucy in her pretty dress while hanging out in the Mother's room on Sunday.  This was the best I could do.  It's a lot better than my first try.  (I had to stop because people came in and it was a little awkward that I was kneeling on the floor next to the chair with my camera out).

We went up to Stafford after church on Father's day.  It was nice to spend time with the Jones', Hornes, Cannons and Hoemanns.

We went up to the temple yesterday.  It's great having the Hornes live so close to the temple.  One of us stayed with Lucy at the Horne's while the other one went to the temple.  This picture was while I was hanging out with Lucy.  It's not very flattering, but it sure is funny. Maybe she looks concerned because being so close to the temple turned her heart to her fathers...she's already worrying about the colonoscopy that she needs and now she wonders when she'll have to join the Hister Sister Club.

Lucy had a really long day yesterday.  She took a three hour nap this morning, just after she woke up at 9am.

Lucy and I went to visit the Hoemann's.  Lucy loved all the attention.  Will was really good with her.

Cora's turn. Cute cousins.  And in case you're wondering, that's Boston in the background.  Melanie was babysitting.  It looks like he's doing "the worm" but I don't think he was.

Baby RM

Bryan has quite a few nick names for Lucy.  One of which is "Rascal Munchkin" (or "Baby RM").  That has recently been shortened to "Wackle Munch".  Bryan has been consumed by fatherhood. He feeds her every night and puts her to bed.  He often gets up with her in the morning at 5:30 so I can sleep.  He even tries to take care of her in his sleep in the middle of the night.  The other night I woke up to see him standing at the end of the bed. I'm getting used to this at this point so I casually asked him what he was doing. He asked, "What are we gonna do with the wackle munch?".  Then he started feeling around the end of the bed for her.   He was startled when the blanket was just a blanket and said, "Where'd she go?!". Of course she was safe in her bed asleep, so I just started laughing.

As for Lucy, she has been making amends for her rascally behavior at the beginning of the week. She has been great. I finally figured out that Lucy cannot be awake for more than an hour and a half at a time.  She has a hard time falling asleep once that happens.  Ever since Monday's episode, I've set her down in her bed after about an hour of being awake and she just drifts off to sleep. I've only needed to rock her to sleep maybe twice this week. It's been heaven.

After baby does this.....

....We get this. She's such a sweet baby.

Enjoying tummy time.

This is a candid picture of  Lucy's reaction after seeing herself in the mirror. She knows she looks good.

It's a New Day

We went to Monticello yesterday with Grandpa and Grandma Horne. We had a really nice time with them. Whether or not we had a nice time with Lucy is something we don't want to talk about. Let's just say after a day of almost non stop crying, Bryan had to have a frank conversation with his daughter about the possibility of getting donated to the Salvation Army.  To our surprise and delight she slept over eight hours last night and has been in a great mood all day.

In order to focus on the positive, here are pictures of when I was playing with Lucy this morning.  It looks like she's changed her ways and we'll never ever ever ever ever have to worry about her crying again.

I Love Her

This baby is so much fun.  She's pretty easy to crack up.  There are days when my face muscles are literally tired from smiling so much with her. She's getting big, but that just means there is more of her to kiss.

Sweetheart

Lucy loves her Dad.

Lucy's Blessing

Lucy was blessed in Charlottesville on May 27.  It was so nice that so much family was able to come.  Thanks to the Jones, Reads, Cannons, and Hoemann (way to represent James) for making it a special day.  Lucy didn't make a sound during the whole blessing.  It was very special to hear her Dad bless her with a strong testimony of her Savior and a desire to be like Him.

I'm really sad that I didn't get pictures of everybody that came.  I don't know what I was thinking....

The Jones and Reads

Pretty Lucy in her pretty dress.  This is the dress that Grandma Gail made when Natalie was blessed and all the Jones girls (and Taylor and Read) have been blessed in the dress as well.  Thanks to Heather for donating her "Faith" ribbon from something she got from Young Women's.  It made a pretty hair bow.

Grandpa and Lucy taking it easy at our apartment after church.

This and That

Pictures that Heather and Gina took of Lucy before we went to California.

Here's one of the sweetest pictures we have of Lucy.  This was before we left for California too.

Here's Lucy and Grandpa after we got back from our trip.  Can you see the difference in her hairline from the pictures above?  She was sick of the Danny DeVito jokes.
